The Coptic Orthodox Church is one of the oldest Christian communities in the world, tracing its roots to St. Mark the Evangelist, who brought the Gospel to Egypt in the first century. Grounded in Holy Scripture and the Apostolic Tradition, the Church has faithfully preserved the Orthodox Christian faith through centuries of worship, prayer, sacrifice, and witness. At the heart of Coptic life is a relationship with Jesus Christ, nurtured through the Divine Liturgy, the Sacraments, prayer, fasting, Scripture, and service to others. Today, the Coptic Orthodox Church continues the ancient faith of the early Church while welcoming each generation to encounter Christ and become an active part of His Body.
